East of San Jose there exists a road with two beautiful viewpoints overlooking Silicon Valley called Sierra Road. It’s a narrow, steep, and windy, but definitely worth it.
After around a ten-minute drive up a, there’s a parking lot at the top of a hill. This is a popular location for car meets. If you walk to the edge, you can see a beautiful view of the entire Bay Area. There are also a few trails which you can go down for a nice picnic.
We came during sunset and watched the sky turn from blue to a deep red. As the sky darkened, the lights of the city started to turn on.
After this first viewpoint, you can drive a bit further to reach a second viewpoint. It goes downhill a little bit, but you have a more expansive view of the city below, without other hills in the way.
