Gas Works Park

After work on a Monday, my friends and I decided to visit Gas Works Park, known for its incredible view of the skyline of Seattle. We grabbed some takeout dinner from our office and headed out. Unfortunately, rush hour traffic made the trip take almost thirty minutes, despite it being only a couple miles from my office.

There were a lot of people at the park, but because of its size, it didn't feel crowded or uncomfortable. Many people were running with dogs, reading books, or smoking. The stress of work was left behind on the other side of the lake. There are two looming gas towers in the middle. They were ginormous — larger than I imagined from the pictures. In a sense, they gave the park a sense of scale, showing how spacious it is.

Once we reached the top of the hill, the skyline came into view. The sun was setting, and we could see the reflections of the tall glass towers in the water. There were hundreds of sailboats and kayaks on the lake, enjoying the same view we were. I imagined how amazing it would be to be in one of those boats at sunset. We ate our dinner as the sky got dark and the city lit up, and then headed out.
